“Bum bum bum”
When once dwelling in my home
Heard an old song sing to me,
It sang, “bum bum bum,
You know what time it is,
Or have forgotten yourself?”
But no, no, no,
I have not forgotten
Still keep pen and paper
In my pockets
And love.
Oh but my lover she still lies
I been wanting one,
She been staying inside.
So I trust no one,
Not her or him
So I just sing,
Bum.
When my time has comes
I’d like black suite
Over burgundy shirt
When my work is done
I’ll fallow the river
To the ocean
Without shoes on my feet
I will still get there.
She asks of me,
“Do you live your life
Fulfillingly?”
And I say yea.
Late one night
When the air was dry and cold
And I was shivering in my bones
I called her on the telephone
“What can you tell me?”
When heart beats like a hurricane,
I think about her.
And lips soft and numb.
I will be forgotten
In black shaded sky
When stars are few and far between
Within the city’s dull glow
I will find a place for me
With no past surrounding
Or leave me to a cell,
With concrete surrounding
For a hundred years
Or until I’m rid of it all.
And I say, "yea"
