Why taunt me
Dancing just like a fiend
Awake, asleep, the same dream.
Just can’t seem to rest
But don’t get mad at yourself.
She drew her hands this summer,
And when ask to die
She seems not moved nor wept.
Lay down to sleep and love her,
But just
Can’t seem to find
A heart, her stones
And steel pulses in her hands.
To still crave the feel.
Don’t get made at yourself.
She walks along
While boot string drags the ground,
And rolls and turns.
The street top folds over
Below the villainous crowd
She cries for help
But just can’t seem to find,
While batting her eyes
and gazing far
They’ll find him lane in waste.
Just can’t comfort more.
So quick to tell your life like a rose
You look like a devil.
She told me so.
I lie sometimes
I don’t know why.
But don’t get mad at yourself.
Who there, a dancer
Now your life’s yet begun
And you talked with a style
Before you got shot down
Now you talk with a swagger
And you breathe with a grunt
And you walk like a badger
Bum dimes

Home Wrecker
03:14
|

Home wrecker you’ll fall
Down through the growth
And the hunger in the night.
Gone through the tall,
Tall grassy lawns
Stranded in the wild.
Being wrapped up in you
And the strangle-holdin’ blue
Oh I don’t know what I’ll do.
Oh I wrecked it I know
Swept far off and gone.
'lone in the evening
Stirring in the wind.
In the dim silver dawn
The moon howling on
In the distance fading
Slowly away.
And gripping my weight
I move slow and away
Farther, forward and away.
I left you long ago
I wrecked it I know
A wrecker I know.
Aw and drift far away
Till my sleeves rip and fray
To coast lines laid in at bay.
Aw muddy and cheap
I sang loudly in my sleep
A black haired mare slept
Next to me.
Coldly I rose
And was swept out the door
And into the dark eves pulse.
The stirring within
My moist clammy skin
Till I burrowed deep in the street.
The drizzle flew round
And her face faded frown
Aw the mist covered me.
She is wild and bleak
Not taken by sleep
Heavy bags hang
Down from her face.
And as I dwell so lonely
She is a comfort to me
She’s a comfort to me.
Smoke rise from my chest
Steel stares from her grasp
I want her for me all the time.
I’m dazed as I strive
To move through the night
She is true though she lies.
Oh don’t let me down
Do not tame nor remain
Within the grasps that my fingers
May hold.
I say, “Hang up your rules,
Be simple and be true.”
They ain’t no good
And he don’t sing like I do.
Running wild in the wind
Black mare fare and thin
Dark in your eyes and your soul.
Oh wreck it, I will
I will crash, I will bail
Through starry ‘lone,
Boundless, stone night.
Take me farther down,
Passed the creeps and the clowns
Passed brick backed mad villains in their steps.
Oh I love her so
But she don’t know my soul,
No she don’t know my soul.

Lay it Down
03:54

You’re my only comfort more
I think of the night
When I’ll lay my burden down
Lay it down
And take it away
I got no patience, been tumblin’
On waves o’ old grey rivers white coat
And leave here tomorrow
In the late morning
Cheer up, lady don’t you rain no more
And as lonely you find yourself
Call on me
I’ve gone away, gone far away
I’ve seen old men speak
And curse of a hungry hard tomb
With wet feet freezing
Beneath the cloud dim and aging
So I think of brighter days
When I’ll lay my burden down again
What have it of hate?
To know the loneliness
Don’t lay me down, down in the grown
Ah to leave my troubles
And go out alone
Red and gold is the color of the land that I’ll roam
You could wonder on
And not find the song
To lift the woes that hold my body down
